After many years of sharing my opinions, creating content for other players, and publishing a few fanzines for different games, I’ve decided to bring everything together under one umbrella — Drushomebrew.com. This website will serve as the main hub for all my gaming and creative projects. Previously I had multiple separate pages for specific games, and even one for selling gaming items online. I hope that having it all in one place will make it easier to use and update.
Over time, this site will grow to include a wide range of gaming content. Some of it will be brand new, posted as I create it. Other material will be older content that I’ve updated to fit more modern gaming styles. With decades of experience as a player, playtester, and designer, I’ve gathered a lot to share. There will also be the occasional opinion piece, along with links to archives of gaming materials I’ve collected throughout my life.
The content here will cover many types of games — some contemporary, some classic, and some that are quite obscure. My interests in games are wide and varied, but traditional sports won’t be part of this site. I’ve always preferred games where players take an active role instead of just watching. Sports are absolutely games in their own right; they’re just not part of what I do here.
There will be material about both competitive and casual play. This includes tournaments, conventions, and in store events — key parts of the modern gaming world that have shaped how games are developed today.
I’m also interested in player psychology, so there will be occasional articles and resources that explore how people think and behave when they play.
I titled this initial post “Welcome to the Fun Hole” because I want it to be a place where readers, players, and fellow designers can fall in, explore, and lose track of time — the way a person falls down an internet subject hole and suddenly realizes that hours have passed. My hope is that you will have as much fun exploring this site as I do creating it.
